The organizing committee for celebration of the Freedom Day on March 25 has decided to gather participants in one place.

Dzyanis Sadouski, who represents the forming Belarusian Christian Democratic party (BCD) at the organizing committee, told BelaPAN that the organizers of the Freedom Day celebration and the Young Front have agreed upon the common assembly point for participants of the rally.

As sad by him, on February 27 a session of the organizing committee took place. “We discussed the problem why representatives of the Young Front had not been invited to previous sessions. It turned out that it was just a technical mistake. A coordinator failed to reach Young Front representatives on the phone,” Sadouski said.

The deputy chairpersons of the Young Front Nasta Palazhanka and Mikalai Dzemidzenka took part at the yesterday’s session of the organizing committee. “We discussed our positions,” Sadouski said. “Young Front representatives stated that “they categorically refuse to go with the march to Bangalore Square. But as long as an application for holding the rally had been already filed, we decided collectively that both the Young Front and the organizing committee for celebration of the Freedom Day invite people to gather in one assembly point and at the same time, March 25, 1.30 p.m. at the spot in front of the Academy of Sciences presidium. And everyone is to decide for oneself whether to go to Bangalore square or not,” Sadouski said.

This year the organizers of the Freedom Day celebration decided to hold a meeting dedicated to the 94th anniversary of proclamation of the Belarusian People’s Republic in the Park of Nations’ Friendship at Bangalore Square, where holding of mass rallies is authorized by Minsk city executive committee. Assembling of the rally participants and the following march to the park is planned near the Academy of Sciences. An application about that was lodged t Minsk city executive committee on February 23.

However, representatives of the Young Front stated that they are set to mark “the main holiday of Belarus” in the centre of the capital, and not “in the bog”. In the near future the Young Front is going to lodge another application for an alternative march in the centre of the city.
