The remarks by the Ambassador of Belarus to Vilnius, Uladzimir Drazhyn, that Lithuania can suffer from the sanctions imposed by the EU against the Belarusian regime have been called biased and impolite.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the situation to ru.DELFI.lt.

“The MFA would like to turn attention to the fact that allegations by the Belarusian Ambassador are biased and do not reflect the real situation as well as his remarks in relation to Lithuanian politicians are regarded as impolite and inappropriate for a diplomat,” a representative of the Lithuanian MFA, Mindaugas Lasas, said on Thursday.

According to him, the future relations between the EU and Belarus depend on Minsk's behavior.

“The Ambassador is well aware the key to the normal relations between the EU and Belarus is in his country. The future of the EU-Belarus relations depends on Minsk's behavior,” he states.
